Annual Spring and Fall Native Plant Sales
We have hosted native plant sales since 2011 which has grown from selling a couple hundred plants to selling thousands annually. Many home gardeners have switched to planting natives to improve their gardens and yards as a beneficial ecosystem. Local native plants continue to be in demand. We offer native plant shopping opportunities for members and the public during our spring (April) and fall (October) plant sales. Keep an eye on our Events & Program Calendar for details.
We also offer volunteer and programmatic opportunities to learn how to propagate plants, garden with natives, and assist during our plant sales.
Off-site Restorations
Our off-site restorations and out-planting projects include collaborations with many outside organizations and local principalities. These plants are used in several local plantings, gardens, and landscapes by area libraries and schools as well as city efforts like Mountain Brook’s bee city/pollinator-friendly landscaping, Birmingham’s efforts in the Highland Park and Glen Iris neighborhoods, as well as tree plantings in East Lake Park and other local parks.
Our latest propagation project is collaborating with Cool Green Trees, an organization working towards planting and maintaining native trees throughout Jefferson County, especially in urban heat islands and social-environmental justice areas. We are propagating many of the trees for their efforts, using grant funds under this project to develop workforce opportunities for native plant propagation.
On-site Restorations
Our on-site restoration and out-plantings include pollinator and habitat-focused gardens, post-invasive plant control projects, and many more projects across our Greenways.
