Jefferson County Greenways offers unparalleled opportunities for college classes to step outside traditional classrooms and immerse themselves in vibrant outdoor labs. From the serene wetlands and dynamic quarry landscapes to the rich ecosystems of Turkey Creek and Red Mountain's historic mines, our greenspaces provide diverse environments for field research, environmental studies, historical understanding, and hands-on learning.

Partner with Us

We’ve hosted professors and students from UAB, Samford University, and other institutions to facilitate meaningful outdoor education experiences. Whether you’re exploring astronomy, water quality, plant ecology, or our city’s mining history, our greenspaces are your classroom.

Choose Your Experience:

Use one of our greenspaces independently ($100 reservation fee) or request our staff's guidance and expertise (starting at $250).

If available, our team can assist with site orientation, program delivery, or logistical support.
