Offsite Opportunities

Can’t come to us? Let us come to you! Jefferson County Greenways would love to visit your school, library, community center, or event.  We offer live animal programs, speaking engagements, and boothing, where we hope to spark a love for the environment and conservation in your community.

To book an offsite program for a school, submit our Field Trip Form.

For all other offsite requests, please email programs@jeffcogreenways.org and we would be happy to assist you!

Wildlife Ambassador programs are $250, with $100 for each additional program, and last 45-60 minutes each. Jefferson County Greenways only features native Alabama animals in our programs, which sets us apart from other live animal programs.

Alabama Animals

In this program, we will examine different roles in the forest ecosystem by discussing unique adaptations, diets, and habitats. Our special team of animals (raptors, turtles, snakes, and bugs) will teach the value of conservation and the importance of protecting our environment. Appropriate for all ages.

Alabama Snakes

Alabama is home to 50 species of snakes. Although often perceived as dangerous, snakes play a critical role in the health of our ecosystems. Learn how to properly identify snakes found in central Alabama by seeing up close three to four live nonvenomous snakes and six venomous snake models, and learn what to do in the event of a snakebite. Best suited for middle school students and older.

Alabama’s Threatened Species

Did you know that Alabama is one of the most biodiverse places on our continent, and home to an endangered ecosystem? Meet four of our threatened wildlife ambassadors, discover why they are vulnerable, and learn what you can do to help them. Suitable for all ages.

Jefferson County Greenways would love to be a part of your community event. We will bring trail maps, biofacts, and information about membership and volunteering. Live animal ambassadors are also available for select events. Cost varies based on event and distance.

If you are interested in us boothing at your event, email programs@jeffcogreenways.org!
